10th World Green Economy Summit Kicks Off in Dubai

The 10th edition of the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) commenced today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the theme "Empowering Global Action: Unlocking Opportunities and Advancing Progress."

Organized by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), the summit brings together global leaders, ministers, and experts to discuss accelerating the transition towards a green economy.

The opening session, titled “International Co-operation on Climate Mitigation,” featured discussions on collaborative climate action and the importance of reaching net-zero emissions by 2050. Speakers highlighted that international cooperation between the public and private sectors is essential for inclusive climate solutions.

Additional sessions covered topics like power grid integration, carbon footprint management, and decarbonizing energy-intensive industries. Experts, including Dr. Ralf Blumenthal from Siemens and Juan Diego Gómez from Sun Colombia, emphasized the role of innovative technologies and significant financial investments in achieving decarbonization goals.

The summit continues tomorrow, with further discussions on sustainability, green technologies, and the future of energy systems, marking a pivotal moment in Dubai’s leadership in promoting a sustainable global future.
