11th Camel Trek Embarks on a Historic Desert Odyssey, Celebrating UAE Heritage
In a vibrant tribute to the UAE’s rich cultural legacy, the 11th Camel Trek is journeying through the vast desert landscapes of the Western Desert.
This 13-day expedition, featuring 33 participants from 17 countries, began on December 9 in the Arada area of the Empty Quarter and is set to conclude at the Heritage Village in Global Village on December 21.
The caravan’s route has traversed key landmarks such as Tel Marib, Al Maha Sanctuary, and Al Dwayseah, with upcoming stops including Al Khazna, Al Ajban, and Saih Al Salam. Covering 45 to 50 kilometers daily, the trek reflects the resilience and determination of its participants, who have overcome sandstorms and rugged terrain under the expert guidance of a seasoned team.
Abdullah Hamdan bin Dalmouk, CEO of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, lauded the support of partners like Dubai Police, Dubai Ambulance, and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi.
“This trek embodies the UAE’s spirit of collaboration and dedication to preserving heritage,”
bin Dalmouk stated.
For the participants, the journey is a transformative experience. Amina Abdullah Al Naqbi, a UAE national, expressed,
“Every step feels like walking through history.” Russian participant Ivan Kovalenko echoed her sentiment, calling the trek “a true test of endurance and a gateway to understanding Emirati traditions.”
As the caravan approaches its final destination, the Camel Trek continues to be a poignant celebration of the UAE’s enduring heritage, uniting people across borders through a shared appreciation for its timeless traditions.
