Beat the Heat with these Must-Try Refreshing Summer Drinks

Virgin Layered Strawberry-Mango Margaritas

Ingredients

  • 3 cups frozen strawberries
  • 3 cups ice, divided
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • ⅔ cup lime juice, divided
  • ½ cup orange juice, divided
  • ¼ cup simple syrup (see Tip), divided
  • 3 cups frozen mango chunks

Instructions

  1. Place strawberries, 1 1/2 cups ice, 1/2 cup water, 1/3 cup lime juice, 1/4 cup orange juice, and 2 tablespoons simple syrup in a blender. Puree until smooth. Transfer to a pitcher or bowl.
  2. Rinse out the blender jar. Place mango and the remaining 1 1/2 cups ice, 1/2 cup water, 1/3 cup lime juice, 1/4 cup orange juice, and 2 tablespoons of simple syrup in the blender. Puree until smooth.
  3. Decoratively layer the two margaritas in 6 glasses. Leave the layers distinct or partially stir together for a swirled design.

Tips

Tip: To make your own simple syrup: Bring 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a medium saucepan, stirring frequently to dissolve the sugar. Let cool for 30 minutes and then refrigerate until cold, at least 1 hour. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.

Pineapple Coconut Water


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup / 180 ml fresh pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup / 120 ml pure coconut water
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure ginger juice
  • 1 teaspoon runny honey, if needed
  • 1 lime

Instructions

  1. Combine the pineapple juice, coconut water, and ginger juice in a cocktail shaker or mason jar filled with ice. Shake well, taste, and if needed, add a bit of honey to sweeten. If your pineapple is sweet enough, you won't need much honey, if any.
  2. Fill small, chilled glasses with lots of ice cubes, and razor-thin slices of lime. Pour the pineapple coconut water into the prepared glasses, and finish with an extra squeeze of lime if you like.

Melon Sorbet Float

Ingredients

  • assorted melon balls (watermelon, honeydew, cantaloupe, etc)
  • 2 scoops lemon, raspberry, or other fruity sorbet
  • fresh mint leaves
  • seltzer water

Instructions

  • Freeze the melon balls for at least three hours until frozen. 
  • To make the drink, put the sorbet into the bottom of a glass, then top with the frozen melon balls. Drop in as much fresh mint as you’d like (anywhere from a couple of leaves to a handful), then top with seltzer water. 
  • Let the sorbet melt to sweeten and flavor the drink. Enjoy!

Aam Panna

Ingredients

  • 5 medium size raw Mango
  • 2 cups Water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 inch Ginger, peeled, sliced
  • 1⅓ cups Sugar
  • Handful of Mint leaves

For Masala

  • 1 tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 2-3 Green Cardamom pods
  • 8-10 Black peppercorns
  • Salt to taste

For Serving

  • Few Ice cubes
  • Cold Water

Instructions

  • In a pressure cooker, add raw mango and pour 2 cups water.
  • Cover and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles or until mango is cooked well.
  • Cool completely, and peel the skin of the mango.
  • Also, scrape the pulp of mango making sure the skin has separated.
  • Transfer the mango pulp into a bowl, and add ginger.
  • In a bowl, add fennel seeds and water and let it soak for a few minutes.

For Masala

  • In a pan, add cumin seeds, green cardamom pods, black peppercorns, and salt to taste dry and roast them well.
  • Once it’s cooled down, transfer it into a grinder jar and grind it into a fine powder.
  • In the same jar, add raw mango pulp, ginger, and soaked fennel seeds and grind it into a smooth paste.
  • Add sugar, mint leaves, and a few ice cubes and grind it into a smooth paste.
  • To serve, in a tall glass take a spoonful of aam panna concentrate and add a few ice cubes.
  • pour in ice-cold water and mix well.
  • Finally, enjoy aam panna garnished with fresh mint leaves.

Apple Cider Vinegar Drink

Ingredients

  • 6 raspberries or blackberries
  • 1 - 2 teaspoons raw sugar or honey
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Ice
  • Sparkling water
  • Berries, basil, and/or mint for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a tall glass, muddle berries and sugar together. Stir in vinegar and lemon juice. Fill with ice and top with sparkling water. Garnish with berries, basil, and/or mint.

Cucumber-Grape Smash

Ingredients

  • 3 slices cucumber (1 ounce)
  • 4 seedless green grapes (3/4 ounce)
  • ½ lime, juiced (1 1/2 Tbsp.)
  • 2 tablespoons lightly packed fresh mint leaves
  • Ginger beer or ginger ale, chilled
  • Additional cucumber, fresh mint leaves, and/or green grapes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small food processor or high-powered blender, process cucumber slices, grapes, lime juice, and mint leaves until nearly smooth. Pour into a tall glass and top with ginger beer; stir. If desired, garnish with cucumber, mint, and/or grapes.

Falooda

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup basil seeds (sabja)
  • 1/4 cup vermicelli (falooda sev)
  • 2 cups chilled milk
  • 1/4 cup rose syrup
  • 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • Chopped nuts for garnish

Instructions:

  • Soak the basil seeds in water for 30 minutes until they swell. 
  • Cook the vermicelli according to the package instructions, then rinse with cold water and set aside.
  • In a tall glass, add the cooked vermicelli and soaked basil seeds.
  • Pour in the rose syrup and chilled milk.
  • Top with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream and garnish with chopped nuts.
