DEWA Approves Over 59,000 NOC Applications in H1 2024 Under Soqoor Programme
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has approved an impressive 59,058 No Objection Certificate (NOC) applications in the first half of 2024, a significant achievement under its Soqoor programme.
This initiative is designed to support DEWA’s commitment to facilitating urban expansion in Dubai by streamlining the approval process for consultants and contractors.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the authority’s dedication to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to enhance Dubai's leadership in public service. He stated that the Soqoor programme not only simplifies procedures but also accelerates service delivery, thereby improving the overall business environment and competitiveness in Dubai. This aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
Of the applications processed, the Transmission Power division approved 32,072, followed by the Distribution Power division with 17,955, and the Water & Civil division with 9,031.
Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President – Transmission (Power) at DEWA, highlighted the broad engagement of 1,951 consultants and contractors in this initiative.
The Soqoor programme is unique in evaluating consultants and contractors against DEWA’s standards, thereby reducing violations and enhancing field operations. Additionally, outstanding performers will be recognized with Soqoor awards in various service categories, promoting best practices within the industry and safeguarding DEWA’s assets.
