DEWA Boosts Dubai's Water Security with New 120 MIG Reservoir in Enkhali

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has commissioned a new water reservoir in Enkhali and connected it to Dubai’s water network.

The reservoir, which has a storage capacity of 120 million imperial gallons (MIG), cost AED 287.8 million. It is part of DEWA’s efforts to provide state-of-the-art integrated infrastructure for electricity and water, and its endeavour to increase the water storage capacity in Dubai.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that the UAE prioritizes water security through its 2036 strategy, ensuring sustainable access and addressing future challenges. Reservoir expansions in Enkhali, Lusaily, Hassyan, and Hatta aim to enhance Dubai's water network efficiency, increasing storage to 1121.3 MIG. The Aquifer Storage and Recovery project will store up to 6000 MIG by 2025, bolstering emergency water reserves.

Abdullah Obaidullah, Executive Vice President of Water and Civil at DEWA, said that the Enkhali reservoir follows the highest international standards.
