DEWA invites the public to visit its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

DEWA's pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai in the Sustainability District will allow visitors to enjoy a unique experience and learn about DEWA's key projects, smart services, and innovative initiatives especially in clean and renewable energy.

Visitors will also learn about DEWA's efforts to use Fourth Industrial Revolution applications to disrupt utilities and become the world's first digital utility.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, said that DEWA's pavilion design is contemporary to reflect DEWA's role as the Official Sustainable Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai and its efforts to reshape the concept of a utility and make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world.

Visitors can learn about DEWA's major projects and pioneering initiatives, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world with a planned capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) in 2030 and the Green Hydrogen project, the first of its kind in the MENA region to produce solar-powered hydrogen.

DEWA will also showcase Digital DEWA, its digital arm, which aims to make DEWA the world's first digital utility to use autonomous systems for renewable energy and storage, while expanding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital services.

Other initiatives include the Solar Decathlon Middle East (SDME) organised by DEWA under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council as part of a partnership between DEWA and the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) and the US Department of Energy. DEWA will also showcase the 250MW hydroelectric power plant in Hatta, the first station of its kind in the GCC; Dubai Summit; and Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls, to create a 5.4-kilometre cable car to transfer tourists from Hatta Dam to Umm Al Nesoor summit and use the slope of the upper dam to create a natural waterfall.

DEWA will allocate an area for the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO) launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in October 2016 during the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) in Dubai. WGEO aims to accelerate the transition to a green economy, help countries and organisations achieve their strategies and green plans. DEWA has also allocated an area for its Space-D programme, which aims to build DEWA's capabilities and train Emirati professionals to use space technologies to enhance its electricity and water networks; Al Shera'a Building, DEWA's new headquarters which will be the world's tallest, largest, and smartest government Zero Energy building.
