DGHR Hosts Forum to Equip Workforce with Essential AI and Digital Skills

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has successfully organized the second edition of the Human Resources Forum, focusing on upskilling and reskilling the workforce in response to rapid technological advancements, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).

Held virtually on Microsoft Teams, the forum, titled "Workforce Upskilling & Reskilling," was attended by Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director-General of DGHR, along with various department directors, section heads, and HR specialists from the Dubai Government.

The forum aimed to equip the Dubai Government's leadership and HR specialists with the necessary skills to navigate the evolving technological landscape. Emphasizing the importance of AI, Abdulla Ali Bin Zayed Al Falasi highlighted the forum's alignment with Dubai's vision to become a global leader in leveraging AI across its institutions. He stressed that upskilling and reskilling the workforce is crucial for ensuring sustainable growth and maintaining Dubai's competitiveness in the global labour market.

Dr. Saeed Aldhaheri, Director of the Centre for Futures Studies at the University of Dubai, presented on global trends impacting workforce skills, including the shift towards hiring for skills rather than jobs, and the importance of AI and digital transformations.

Mariam Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President of Shared Services at ADNOC Sour Gas, shared insights into ADNOC's strategies for lifelong learning and skill development, further highlighting the importance of maintaining competitiveness in a rapidly changing economy.

The forum also featured discussions on the skills needed for the future, with an emphasis on AI, digital skills, and a lifelong learning mentality. The event concluded with a reflection on the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2023, which predicts significant transformations in job tasks and workforce skills over the next five years.
