DP World and Schneider Electric Partner to Empower Emirati Youth in Sustainability and Technology
DP World, a leading global logistics provider, and Schneider Electric, a pioneer in energy management and automation, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the skills of Emirati youth in sustainability and digital technologies. The partnership aims to align with the UAE’s vision for a sustainable economy and empower the next generation of leaders in these fields.
The MoU was signed by Maha AlQattan, Group Chief Sustainability Officer of DP World, and Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Countries at Schneider Electric, in the presence of Schneider Electric’s Global Chairman Jean-Pascal Tricoire and DP World GCC’s CEO Abdulla bin Damithan.
Under the agreement, two flagship initiatives will be launched: the Experience Exchange Program and the Future Sustainability Leaders Program.
The Experience Exchange Program will facilitate knowledge-sharing between the two companies by allowing three employees from each organization to work with the partner company. This exchange will provide participants with insights into sustainability practices and operational excellence in their respective industries.
The Future Sustainability Leaders Program, launching next year, will target fresh Emirati graduates. The five-month initiative will include intensive training in sustainability, decarbonization, and artificial intelligence, followed by a one-month internship to provide hands-on experience in implementing sustainable solutions.
Maha AlQattan emphasized DP World’s commitment to bridging gaps in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, ensuring the younger generation is equipped to tackle global challenges like climate change. She praised the partnership with Schneider Electric for supporting the UAE’s climate and youth agenda by providing opportunities to young Emiratis.
Amel Chadli highlighted Schneider Electric’s shared vision with DP World to nurture future leaders in sustainability. He noted that the collaboration underscores the companies’ commitment to fostering innovation, advancing the UAE’s position as a global leader in sustainable technology, and driving progress locally and internationally.
The partnership builds on Schneider Electric’s “Tamayuz Program,” which supports Emirati graduates and promotes female inclusion in industrial sectors. It also complements DP World’s $35 million global education investment initiative, emphasizing green, digital, and logistics skills by 2030.
This collaboration exemplifies the UAE’s efforts to create a skilled workforce equipped for a sustainable future.
