Dragon Oil Achieves Major Milestone with East Crystal Well in Gulf of Suez
Dragon Oil has successfully completed initial drilling at the “East Crystal” well in the Gulf of Suez, marking a significant achievement in its exploration operations.
In collaboration with GUPCO, the company’s initial tests revealed a production rate of over 2,000 barrels per day (bpd), indicating strong potential for increased output in the region.
The company is now conducting further evaluations with advanced technologies to enhance the well's production capacity, with a target of exceeding 5,000 bpd. Preliminary assessments suggest the well could hold reserves of up to 8 million barrels, aligning with Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum’s strategy to boost domestic oil production and optimise resource usage.
Ali Rashid Al Jarwan, CEO of Dragon Oil, highlighted that these results showcase the effectiveness of modern exploration techniques in revitalising mature fields. He emphasised the company’s commitment to sustaining long-term production and maximising the recovery rate of available reserves.
This discovery strengthens Dragon Oil’s position as a key player in Egypt's energy sector, supporting both domestic production growth and energy security. With a focus on efficient and sustainable recovery methods, the company is poised to contribute significantly to Egypt's energy future while maintaining a high-quality recovery process.
