Dubai Launches App Olympics to Boost Digital Innovation

The Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy has unveiled the App Olympics, a significant initiative under the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ program, during the Expand North Star event at Dubai Harbour from October 13-16. This initiative aims to reinforce Dubai's standing as a global hub for technology and digital innovation.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, emphasized the initiative's alignment with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision for advanced technological advancement. He highlighted the necessity of inspiring innovative minds to create solutions that enhance the future of humanity.

Dubai is recognized as one of the world’s most future-ready cities, leading the global adoption of advanced technologies across various sectors. Sheikh Hamdan noted that the App Olympics underscores Dubai’s role in fostering innovation, acting as a platform for groundbreaking ideas and trends.

Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy, stated that the App Olympics reflects Dubai’s commitment to being a premier destination for app development. The competition is open to participants of all ages globally and includes four award categories: Best Youth App, Most Impactful App, Most Innovative App, and Industry of the Year – Mobile Gaming.

Winners will receive financial rewards and a service package worth $150,000 for app development, along with a six-month mentorship program. This initiative aims to train over 1,000 Emiratis in coding and app development, significantly enhancing the local digital economy.
