Dubai Customs has officially launched the Intellectual Property Summer Events 2024 under the theme "Innovate, Protect."
Organized by the IPR Department of the Policies and Legislation Division, the initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting intellectual property and fostering innovation across various community segments.
Held at the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services headquarters, the events feature a series of specialized workshops led by IP specialists from the Awareness and Education Section. Participants are encouraged to submit creative ideas through collaborative competitions. Additionally, the Customs K9 Unit showcased their capabilities in countering counterfeit goods, engaging positively with 45 children at the event.
The IP Summer series will run until the end of August 2024, offering educational lectures tailored for different age groups to promote a culture of IP protection and creativity within the community.
Yousef Ozair Mubarak, Director of the IPR Department, emphasized the importance of educating the community about the dangers of counterfeit goods and copyright infringements. He noted that the IP Summer events provide a vital platform for reaching new generations and enhancing partnerships with government entities in combating counterfeiting.
So far this year, Dubai Customs has organized six events, engaging over 6,000 participants, alongside six specialized courses attended by 309 students from various educational institutions. The annual IP Summer events are a key initiative aimed at youth outreach and intellectual property awareness.
