Dubai Customs Launches 'Shahin' Platform to Enhance Trade Security
Dubai Customs marked World Customs Day on January 26 with the launch of "Shahin," a cutting-edge digital platform designed for real-time tracking of trucks and shipments.
Developed in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Border Security, and the Security Industries Regulatory Authority, the platform aims to enhance supply chain security and efficiency.
"Shahin" provides instant alerts for route deviations, ensuring regulatory compliance and bolstering Dubai’s position as a global logistics hub. Director-General Abdulla Busenad emphasized the platform’s role in streamlining logistics, improving security, and enhancing trade transparency. The initiative aligns with the World Customs Organization’s (WCO) theme of efficiency, security, and prosperity.
Dubai Customs continues to leverage digital transformation to drive efficiency. Innovations such as blockchain technology and the "Seamless Inspections" project, which has reduced customs processing times by over 50 percent, further strengthen trade operations. The department has also reinforced collaboration with WCO, INTERPOL, and global agencies to combat smuggling and protect communities.
Additionally, Dubai Customs introduced a unified toll-free number, (1886) 800, to improve customer service. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Dubai International Arbitration Centre to promote alternative dispute resolution in logistics, enhancing investor confidence and supporting Dubai’s role as a global arbitration hub.
