Dubai Customs Showcases Innovative Initiatives at GITEX Global 2024
Dubai Customs is making a significant impact at the 44th edition of GITEX Global, taking place from October 14 to 18, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The department is unveiling eight cutting-edge initiatives that leverage advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, aiming to enhance customs processes and support legitimate trade.
Among the highlighted projects is the "Seamless Inspections" initiative, designed to expedite customs inspections. Additionally, the "Al Munasiq" app employs generative AI to accurately assign Harmonised System (HS) codes to goods. The "K9 Sustainable Vehicle" aids in customs inspections to combat contraband smuggling, while the AI-powered "Octa" platform serves as a personal customs assistant for customer inquiries.
Another notable initiative, "Shahin," enables electronic shipment tracking via an electronic lead seal, streamlining logistics between Dubai's ports. Attendees can also engage in a virtual simulation of customs procedures for cargo clearance.
Dr. Abdulla Mohammed Busenad, Director General of Dubai Customs, emphasized the department's commitment to showcasing its digital transformation at GITEX. He noted that this participation allows Dubai Customs to present its initiatives to the business community, trading companies, and logistics sectors, ultimately aiming to exceed expectations and enhance business returns.
Highlighting the importance of GITEX, Dr. Busenad stated,
“This platform facilitates the exchange of insights on technological advancements that can simplify operations, showcasing the smart customs procedures and services we offer to local and international visitors.”
These initiatives align with Dubai's economic agenda, bolstering foreign trade value and fostering collaboration with global experts and investors.
