Dubai Economy emphasises need to adhere to precautionary measures
- COVID-19 precautions must be strictly observed during sales and promotions
- Store management summoned for not complying to physical distancing during sale
Dubai Economy recently summoned the management of a department store that failed to comply with the precautionary measures against COVID-19, most notably physical distancing, during a discount sale. The sale had seen visitors thronging the store, ignoring the risk of physical contact.
Dubai Economy emphasized that all stores and outlets as well as their customers must strictly adhere to the precautionary measures, specifically during discount sales and similar promotional campaigns.
Merchants and shop owners can refer to the Commercial Compliance Manual available on the Consumerrights.ae website to know about the terms and conditions governing the launch of sales and promotions, reminded Dubai Economy.
Field inspectors from the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) Sector in Dubai Economy are closely monitoring businesses and commercial centres to make sure that everyone adheres to the precautionary guidelines and avoid violations, in addition to educating merchants and consumers on the importance of the message, “Everyone is responsible,” to safeguard public health and safety as well as enable business continuity.
Dubai Economy also called on consumers to report any non-compliance to the COVID-19 precautionary guidelines via the Dubai Consumer App available on Apple, Google, and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or on the Consumerrights.ae website.
