Dubai Police Showcases Innovations for People of Determination at AccessAbilities Expo 2024

H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Emirates Airline, visited the Dubai Police stand at the 6th AccessAbilities Expo, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event, running until Wednesday, aims to highlight the latest services and technologies for people of determination.

Major Abdullah Hamad Al Shamsi, Chairperson of the Dubai Police People of Determination Empowerment Council, expressed the council's commitment to this annual exhibition, emphasizing its role in promoting the integration and empowerment of individuals with disabilities. He stated,

"Our council's policies align with Dubai Police's initiatives for people of determination, supporting the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination and the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033."

During the expo, Dubai Police hosted "Heroes' Talk," showcasing inspiring stories from the people of determination community. Captain Mohammed Al Mazrouei highlighted a specially designed shooting wheelchair developed for individuals with double amputations, enabling their participation in competitive shooting. He proudly noted that Aisha Al Shamsi, an Emirati athlete and member of the Dubai Club for People of Determination, has qualified for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Additionally, Dubai Police introduced a "Sensory Room" aimed at individuals with autism, utilizing virtual reality glasses to enhance social interaction and communication skills. With two sensory rooms established at Al Muraqqabat and Al Barsha police stations, the initiative reflects Dubai Police's dedication to inclusivity. The Dubai Autism Centre awarded the Autism-Friendly Certificate to Dubai Police, recognizing their efforts to support individuals with autism through specially trained personnel and facilities.
