Dubai Ride 2024: Record-Breaking 37,130 Cyclists Take Over Sheikh Zayed Road

Dubai came alive this morning as 37,130 cyclists gathered for the Dubai Ride, presented by DP World, transforming Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai into the region's largest community cycling event.

Part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), this year’s Dubai Ride offered amateur and professional cyclists a rare chance to explore Dubai’s landmarks from the unique vantage of the saddle.

Participants chose between two routes: a scenic 4-km family-friendly loop around Downtown Dubai, passing iconic sites like Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, or a 12-km stretch along Sheikh Zayed Road. New to this year’s event, the Dubai Ride Speed Laps catered to seasoned cyclists, who tested their limits at an average speed of 30km/h.

Notable athletes like American triathlon silver medalist Taylor Spivey and UAE cyclist Safia Al Sayegh joined the ride, inspiring participants with their commitment to fitness. Spivey is in Dubai for the inaugural Dubai T100 Triathlon World Championship Final at Meydan on 16-17 November.

Adding to the energy, Dubai Police supercars and talabat riders led the start, while music from UNTOLD Dubai’s DJs and the presence of Modesh World characters Modesh and Dana added a festive touch.

Organized by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Sports Council, the event underscores H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to make Dubai one of the world’s most active cities. Dubai Sports Council Secretary General Saeed Hareb celebrated the turnout as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to an active lifestyle, while DFRE CEO Ahmed Al Khaja emphasized the unity and community spirit.
