Dubai to Host the 2025 International District Cooling Conference
His Excellency Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), met with Rob Thornton, President and CEO of the International District Energy Association (IDEA), during the IDEA Campus Energy Conference 2025 in the United States.
Their meeting focused on Dubai’s upcoming role as host for the fourth edition of the International District Cooling Conference in December 2025.
The discussions centered on preparations for the event, including key themes that reflect the latest developments in the district cooling industry, the challenges it faces, and strategies to overcome them. The aim is to further cement the conference’s position as a leading global platform for district cooling discussions, addressing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
Dubai has previously hosted the conference in 2014, 2016, and 2018, reinforcing its status as a global leader in the district cooling industry. Bin Shafar emphasized Dubai’s commitment to advancing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, noting that the city’s continued support of the sector underscores its pivotal role on the world stage.
“The conference’s return to Dubai for the fourth time is a clear indication of the strong support the emirate provides to the district cooling industry,”
said Bin Shafar.
“It is a testament to our ongoing collaboration with IDEA and our shared vision for a more sustainable future.”
