Dubai Wraps Up Healthcare Future Summit 2024

The Healthcare Future Summit concluded today at the Dubai World Trade Centre, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.

The summit, which drew over 5,000 healthcare leaders, researchers, and policymakers, reinforced the UAE’s position as a global leader in healthcare innovation.

This year’s event featured significant conferences, including the Dubai Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery Conference, the Annual Radiology Meeting, and the inaugural School Health Conference. The summit emphasized collaboration and knowledge-sharing across health sectors, particularly in vaccination and infectious disease prevention.

Dr. Ramadan Al Blooshi, Advisor to the Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, remarked on the summit's success in gathering global health leaders to address vital topics like vaccine advancements and immunisation practices. The agenda included discussions on adult vaccination programs, particularly for diseases like respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), shingles, and influenza, which significantly affect seniors.

Dr. Farida Al Hosani from the World Health Organisation highlighted the importance of adult vaccination in saving lives and preventing complications from chronic illnesses. A major takeaway was the need for a comprehensive adult vaccination schedule to mitigate vaccine-preventable diseases and reduce healthcare costs.

In addition to adult health, the School Health Conference gathered over 400 attendees from 200 UAE schools, focusing on immunisation challenges and health awareness. Dr. Wafi Dawood of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority stressed the significance of initiatives promoting physical activity, aligning with the Dubai Education 2033 Strategy.

The summit featured 184 scientific sessions with participation from 206 specialists and showcased over 112 exhibiting brands, further strengthening the connections within the healthcare sector.
