Dubai’s Green Future: A Pioneering Path Toward Net-Zero Emissions
Entrepreneur Middle East, in collaboration with Lucidity Insights, has unveiled a special report titled Dubai’s Green Future: Powered by Renewable Energy.
The report spotlights Dubai's ambitious journey toward achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, emphasizing significant investments and groundbreaking projects in renewable energy.
The report highlights Dubai’s commitment to sustainability, driven by visionary leadership and advanced technologies. Key strategies, including the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, aim to provide 100% of the Emirate’s energy from clean sources by 2050. Dubai has already surpassed milestones, achieving a 16.1% clean energy mix by 2023.
Prominent projects, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, are central to this transformation. As the largest single-site solar park globally, it currently produces 2,860MW, powering 17% of DEWA’s capacity. By 2030, the park will generate 5,000MW, supplying clean energy to 1.5 million homes. The park also boasts Guinness World Records for its innovative design, including the world’s tallest concentrated solar power tower.
DEWA’s groundbreaking initiatives extend to the Middle East’s first Green Hydrogen project and the GCC’s first pumped-storage hydroelectric plant in Hatta. These projects aim to cement Dubai’s leadership in clean energy innovation.
“With renewable energy at its core, Dubai sets a global example of balancing growth with sustainability,”
said Wissam Younane, CEO of BNC Publishing. This transformative journey underscores Dubai's pledge to a greener, sustainable future.
