Dummy Bookings and Proof of Funds: Why UAE Visit Visas May Be Rejected

Visit visa rejections to the UAE have been linked to applicants failing to meet key legal requirements, such as submitting valid return tickets, confirmed hotel bookings, and proof of sufficient funds, according to travel industry experts.

Key Requirements for UAE Visit Visas:

  • Valid return air ticket before visa expiry.
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or relative’s tenancy contract).
  • Sufficient funds for the duration of the stay.
“The UAE wants to ensure only genuine tourists enter the country, enjoy their visit, and leave before their visa expires,”

explained Rikin Sheth, Assistant VP at Musafir.com.

Common Reasons for Visa Rejections:

  • Dummy flight or hotel bookings failing verification.
  • Incomplete or missing documents, including proof of funds and travel itineraries.
  • Concerns over potential visa overstays.

Sheras Sharaf, Operations Manager at Arab World Tourism, noted that authorities are becoming stricter with verification processes to maintain tourism quality and discourage misuse.

Tips for Avoiding Visa Rejections:

  1. Submit genuine documents, including valid travel and accommodation details.
  2. Use a reputable travel agency for accurate advice and support.
  3. Ensure compliance with visa rules, such as exiting the country within the allowed stay period.

Dubai welcomed 10.62 million tourists between January and July 2024, an 8% increase from the previous year. To sustain this growth, the UAE prioritizes maintaining high tourism standards through stricter visa requirements.
