Eid Al Adha 2023: All you need to know about Abattoirs in Dubai
To meet the surge in demand during the upcoming Eid Al Adha festival, the Dubai Municipality has made extensive preparations to ensure smooth and efficient services at its abattoirs.
These facilities have undergone comprehensive maintenance and are now equipped with the latest technology to handle the increased workload. With a combined capacity of almost 900 animals per hour, the four abattoirs, namely Al Qusais, Al Quoz, Al Lisaili, and Hatta, are well-prepared to cater to the needs of customers.
To enhance convenience, the civic body has introduced smart apps that allow customers to order, purchase, and even have the livestock delivered to their homes. This integrated approach ensures flexibility, speed, and safety in the process, providing a seamless experience for residents during this important Islamic occasion.
Latest tools and machines
Adel Al Karrani, the Acting Director of the Public Health Services Department in the Dubai Municipality (DM), expressed the Municipality's commitment to equipping its abattoirs with the latest tools and machines, as part of a comprehensive plan to improve and expand their capacity.
The aim of these efforts is to ensure efficiency, provide customers with an excellent experience, and save them time and effort. Al Karrani emphasized the Municipality's dedication to upholding the highest public health standards, ensuring that the animals for sacrifice are prepared in a clean and healthy environment. The maintenance work involved doubling the capacity of the Hatta Abattoir, performing preventative and improvement maintenance in the Al Quoz and Al Qusais abattoirs, and making modifications to the production lines to increase capacity and streamline the preparation process.
Additionally, training workshops were conducted for abattoir workers to ensure the implementation of healthy and safe practices throughout the facilities. These measures aim to reduce waiting time for customers during the Eid period and maintain optimal operational conditions in the abattoirs.
Smart applications
Dubai Municipality has partnered with eight authorized smart applications that allow users to order and have sacrificed animals delivered to their homes. These apps not only ensure adherence to approved health procedures in the Municipality's abattoirs but also offer additional services and discounts during the Eid period to cater to users' preferences and needs.
Working Hours
The abattoirs' working hours have been set by Dubai Municipality, with different timings on Arafa day and the first, second, and third days of Eid, ensuring convenient access for customers. The Al Qusais, Al Quoz, and Al Lisaili abattoirs will operate from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on Arafa day, while the Hatta abattoir will be open from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. During the first, second, and third days of Eid, all abattoirs will operate from 7:30 am to 4:00 am.
