Emirates Boosts Pilot and Cabin Crew Training with $48 Million Investment in Advanced Equipment

In preparation for its upcoming Airbus A350 fleet, Emirates has made a significant investment of US$48 million in state-of-the-art training equipment and systems.

The airline's new training suites include three full-flight simulators, a fixed-base training device, and specialized trainers for cabin emergency evacuation and door operation. This investment reinforces Emirates' commitment to maintaining the highest standards in pilot and crew training.

Among the highlights of the new equipment is the Pilot Support System (PSS), an industry first developed entirely in-house. The PSS allows trainees to perform interactive flight deck setups and build flight plans in an immersive environment, enhancing the realism of the training experience. Instructors can also use a debrief mode to review crew performance post-simulation.

The airline’s first A350 full-flight simulator recently received a prestigious Level D qualification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), marking the highest certification standard with zero deficiencies. Emirates has also ordered two additional simulators, with the second currently undergoing approval.

Captain Bader Al Marzooqi, Senior Vice President of Flight Training, emphasized the importance of innovation in Emirates' approach to training.

"Our new A350 training equipment and upcoming advanced pilot training facility will allow us to expand our training capacity by 54%,"

he said.

By November, more than 50 pilots will have completed their A350 training, supported by a robust, evidence-based curriculum delivered by Emirates' experienced instructors. As Emirates prepares for its future growth, the airline has also launched a pilot recruitment drive, with an online information session scheduled for 16 October.
