Emirates NBD Leads Global Sustainability with Record LEED Certifications
Emirates NBD, a top banking group in the MENAT region, has become the global leader in sustainability with 16 Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certifications.
This prestigious recognition, awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), highlights the bank’s commitment to green building practices.
As of September 2024, Emirates NBD has earned 35 LEED Platinum and Gold certifications across branches in the UAE, Saudi Arabia (KSA), and India. The King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) branch in KSA notably became the first bank in the kingdom to receive LEED Platinum certification. Additionally, Emirates NBD is the first financial institution in the Middle East to earn the Parksmart Gold certification for its Dubai Nad Al Sheba parking facility.
In 2024 alone, 20 branches across the UAE, KSA, and India achieved LEED Platinum or Gold certifications. Recent recognitions include the branches at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3, Ibn Battuta Mall, and Electra, all receiving LEED Platinum.
Eman Abdulrazzaq, Group COO at Emirates NBD, emphasized the bank’s leadership in green practices, saying,
“Sustainability is a shared responsibility, and we aim to set an example for other organizations.”
Vijay Bains, Group Chief Sustainability Officer, noted the bank's alignment with the UAE’s Green Agenda 2030, calling the achievements a step toward a greener future.
Emirates NBD’s continuous efforts in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives underscore its dedication to sustainability and global green building standards.
