Emirates SkyCargo Reinforces Commitment to Africa at Air Cargo Africa
As the logistics industry gathers in Nairobi for Air Cargo Africa, Emirates SkyCargo reaffirms its nearly four-decade-long commitment to the continent.
With a robust operation moving 3,820 tonnes of cargo in and out of Africa each week, the airline continues to strengthen trade routes, linking African businesses to global markets.
“Africa has been a priority market for Emirates SkyCargo since our first flight to the continent in 1986. Since then, we’ve gone from strength to strength,”
said Khalid Al Hinai, Vice President Cargo Commercial, Emirates SkyCargo – Africa, UAE, and Middle East. He highlighted the transformative potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in boosting regional and international trade, positioning Emirates SkyCargo as a crucial link in Africa’s evolving economic landscape.
Since its inaugural Africa-bound flight to Cairo in 1986, Emirates SkyCargo has expanded its footprint to 20 destinations, deploying eight freighters and 172 passenger flights weekly. In 2024 alone, the airline transported over 91,930 tonnes of perishable goods, including Egyptian strawberries, South African seafood, Tanzanian chilled meats, and Ghanaian fresh fruits, ensuring seamless farm-to-market deliveries.
Kenya’s thriving floriculture industry also benefits from Emirates SkyCargo’s efficient logistics, with twice-weekly freighters ferrying fresh-cut flowers to Europe within 24 hours. Beyond agriculture, African nations are ramping up industrial manufacturing, aligning with AfCFTA’s objectives. Emirates SkyCargo supports this shift with tailored, efficient cargo solutions.
At Air Cargo Africa, the airline engages with industry leaders to drive innovation and strengthen Africa’s supply chains. Emirates SkyCargo welcomes visitors to stand B01 from February 19-21, underscoring its ongoing commitment to the region’s economic growth.
