Emirati Human Resources Development Council and Jafza Partner to Boost Emirati Employment
In a significant step towards enhancing Emirati employment, the Emirati Human Resources Development Council (EHRDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (Jafza).
This partnership aims to increase the employment of UAE nationals in companies operating within Jafza, focusing on equipping them with essential skills in critical economic sectors such as logistics, port operations, and supply chain management.
The MoU was signed by Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Deputy Chairman of EHRDC, and Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO & Managing Director of DP World GCC. This agreement underscores both entities' commitment to Emiratisation and skill development for Emiratis, facilitating their transition into the workforce.
Through this collaboration, EHRDC and Jafza will promote the recruitment of qualified Emirati candidates and develop career programs with Jafza-based companies. The initiative will also emphasize practical and vocational training, enhancing Emiratis' hands-on experience. Additionally, job fairs will be organized to showcase available employment opportunities within Jafza's vibrant ecosystem of over 10,700 companies, including more than 100 Fortune 500 firms.
Eng. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Chairman of EHRDC, stated,
“This partnership marks a crucial step toward expanding career pathways for Emiratis in vital industries.” Abdulla Bin Damithan echoed this sentiment, emphasizing DP World's dedication to cultivating a competitive Emirati workforce.
As part of the MoU, EHRDC will also integrate Emiratis hired in Jafza with the ‘NAFIS’ Emirati Talent Competitiveness Programme, ensuring they benefit from various initiatives and incentives. This strategic alliance aims to solidify the UAE's position as a global trade and logistics hub.
