Fintech Surge 2024 Spotlights SME Empowerment and Future Financial Innovations

Fintech Surge 2024 wrapped up today at Dubai Harbour, uniting global fintech leaders, innovative startups, and forward-thinking investors eager to shape the financial landscapes of tomorrow.

The final day centered around empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the theme “Future of Money,” showcasing insights into innovative banking solutions and digital trends crucial for financial growth.

The day commenced with a keynote by Anwer Pirani, Manager of the Digital Economy Ecosystem at Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy (DCDE). He emphasized DCDE’s mission to foster Dubai’s tech ecosystem, noting their support for over 550 companies in 2023 through the "Business in Dubai" initiative.

“From January to September this year, we’ve already helped over 500 companies, indicating increased traction,”

he stated.

A discussion titled “Digitising MSMEs for Financial Growth” revealed how micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises can leverage digital trends like cloud computing and AI to drive expansion.

Nicolas Levi, CEO of du Pay, noted that AI enhances customer service efficiency, making financial solutions accessible to a broader audience.

The “Conversation Circle: Cool Cash” session delved into future lending trends, where panellists advised SMEs to remain vigilant of global economic conditions.

Ibrahim Abdelrahim, Co-founder of Moonbase Capital, urged SMEs to consider macroeconomic factors in their financing strategies. Chérifatou Ibrahima Agoumo from CARE USA advocated for diversifying funding sources and utilizing digital platforms like GoFundMe to increase visibility and attract funds.

With over 1,200 investors attending, Fintech Surge 2024 highlighted Dubai’s role as a leading innovation hub in the MENA fintech scene, featuring over 100 exhibitors and 120 speakers who explored emerging trends in digital banking and fintech investments.

Saagar Bhavsar from Begin Capital remarked on the region's immense potential for fintech growth, emphasizing the promising startups identified during the event.
