FNC Approves UAE’s Largest Union Budget for 2025 Totaling AED71.5 Billion
The Federal National Council (FNC) has approved a draft federal law linking the Union General Budget and the budgets of independent federal entities for the fiscal year 2025.
The decision was made during the FNC’s second ordinary session of its 18th legislative chapter, chaired by Saqr Gobash.
The session was attended by key officials, including Abdulrahman bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for FNC Affairs, and Mohamed Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs. Al Hussaini announced that the approved budget totals AED71.5 billion in both revenues and expenditures, maintaining a balanced fiscal framework.
This historic budget—the largest in the UAE's history—reflects the leadership’s vision to enhance quality of life and drive sustainable development. It also highlights the resilience of the UAE’s economy and its resource sustainability to support crucial social and economic projects.
The 2025 budget prioritizes key sectors, with AED27.859 billion (39%) allocated to social development, including AED9.990 billion for education, AED5.505 billion for healthcare, and AED8.956 billion for social care. Other allocations include AED1.288 billion for culture and arts, AED660 million for housing, AED8.126 billion for defence affairs, and AED2.523 billion for economic affairs.
During the session, FNC members Marwan Obaid Al Muhairi and Mira Sultan Al Suwaidi were elected as Council observers by acclamation.
This budget underscores the UAE’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth and improving societal welfare through strategic investments.
