Global Innovation and Knowledge Summit 2024 Kicks Off in Dubai
Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture, inaugurated the 9th edition of the Knowledge Summit.
Organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) in collaboration with the UNDP, the event runs until November 19, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The Summit, themed "Future Skills and AI Economy," brings together global experts to discuss the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) and its role in shaping a knowledge-based economy. H.H. Sheikha Latifa highlighted the Summit's role in fostering knowledge exchange, advancing sustainable development, and positioning Dubai as a hub for innovation.
Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of MBRF, emphasized the event’s focus on AI’s potential across various sectors, while Dr. Abdallah Al Dardari of UNDP stressed the importance of knowledge in navigating the Fifth Industrial Revolution.
The unveiling of the 2024 Global Knowledge Index (GKI) revealed Sweden as the top-ranked nation, with the UAE leading the Arab world. The GKI measures countries’ knowledge capacity across education, research, and IT.
Key events included the UNESCO World Open Educational Resources Congress, the launch of the Global Coalition for Skills Development, and the honoring of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Knowledge Award winners. The Summit hosted dynamic discussions on AI, digital transformation, and future skills, setting the stage for global innovation and progress.
The Knowledge Summit 2024 reaffirms Dubai’s commitment to leveraging knowledge and technology to create a prosperous future for all.
