Google Maps for iOS and Apple CarPlay Introduces Live Speedometer Feature

Google Maps for iOS and Apple CarPlay has introduced a new live speedometer feature. This feature, previously exclusive to Google Maps on Android, now allows users to monitor their driving speed directly within the app.

When users begin navigation, the vehicle's speed is displayed in either miles or kilometers per hour, depending on their region. The speedometer icon changes color based on the speed, providing a visual cue to help drivers stay within the speed limit.

Google has confirmed that the speedometer display is being rolled out globally to iOS users. However, they emphasize that the feature is intended for informational purposes only. Drivers should continue to rely on their vehicle's speedometer for the most accurate speed reading.

To enable the speedometer and speed limits in the Google Maps app, users should go to their profile, then navigate to Settings, followed by Navigation, and finally Driving options.
