Landmark Group Launches Region's First Textile Recycling Facility in Dubai

In a major step toward sustainability and waste reduction, Landmark Group has unveiled Landmark Circulife, the first textile recycling facility in the region. Located in Dubai World Central, the facility aims to transform textile waste into recycled fibers, offering a sustainable solution for the fashion and home furnishings industries.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and Landmark Group Chairwoman Renuka Jagtiani, along with members of the UAE Circular Economy Council and retail industry leaders.

A Sustainable Solution for Textile Waste

The new facility has the capacity to process 2,000 metric tonnes of textile waste annually, converting used fabrics into fibers that can be repurposed into new products. This effort significantly reduces reliance on virgin materials and helps mitigate the environmental impact of textile waste, aligning with the UAE’s Circular Economy Policy.

Landmark Circulife supports the company’s broader goal of becoming climate-positive by 2050. By addressing approximately 5% of the UAE’s textile waste (equivalent to 11,000 metric tonnes annually), the facility is expected to contribute to the reduction of 140,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions, conserve energy, and save millions of liters of water.

Encouraging Consumer Participation

Building on the success of its takeback programs, Landmark Group is encouraging customers to return used clothing and textiles—regardless of brand—at stores like Centrepoint, Max Fashion, Home Centre, and Home Box. These items are then processed at the Landmark Circulife facility, creating a circular economy model that engages both businesses and consumers in sustainability efforts.

“Our responsibility to protect the environment is a shared one,”

said Renuka Jagtiani during the launch.

“This initiative advances circularity in the fashion and textile industry, creating a closed-loop system that benefits the planet and its people.”

Collaboration for a Circular Future

The project also highlights the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving sustainability goals. Minister Al Marri emphasized that initiatives like this enhance the UAE's global standing in the circular economy.

“Strong collaborations are key to fostering sustainable growth and driving the transition to a circular economy,”

he said.

As part of its long-term vision, Landmark Group plans to expand the facility's capacity and increase its impact, playing a vital role in reducing waste and emissions while conserving valuable resources.

Key Impacts

  • Annual processing capacity of 2,000 metric tonnes of textile waste
  • Estimated reduction of 140,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions
  • Savings of 107 GWh of energy and millions of liters of water

Landmark Circulife represents a significant milestone in the region’s journey toward a more sustainable future. The initiative demonstrates Landmark Group’s commitment to creating meaningful environmental change, contributing to the UAE’s ambitious sustainability targets.
