Malaysia Launches MIHAS@Dubai, Expanding Global Halal Industry Reach
The Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) made its overseas debut today in Dubai with MIHAS@Dubai, a landmark event aimed at cementing Malaysia's position in the Middle East’s booming halal market.
This inaugural international venture highlights the nation’s halal offerings across food, beverages, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and services such as finance, logistics, and franchising.
Strategically held alongside the Middle East Organic and Natural Products Expo from November 18-20, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, MIHAS@Dubai provides a dynamic platform to showcase Malaysia's capabilities in the global halal economy.
Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, accompanied by MATRADE Chairman Reezal Merican Naina Merican and CEO Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz, officially inaugurated the event.
Dr. Hamidi emphasized the importance of leveraging Dubai’s position as a trading hub for the MENA region, stating,
“After 20 successful editions in Malaysia, this expansion demonstrates our commitment to globalizing the halal industry.”
The event features over 200 Malaysian exhibitors and incorporates the International Sourcing Programme (INSP), facilitating business-matching sessions between Malaysian exporters and international buyers. Malaysia aims to capitalize on the growing halal market, projected to reach $5 trillion by 2030.
Malaysia’s trade growth, which recorded a 10.2% increase from January to September 2024, is expected to accelerate further with MIHAS@Dubai, fostering partnerships and investment opportunities.
Dr. Hamidi concluded by urging attendees to seize this opportunity:
“Together, we can strengthen the global halal community for the benefit of future generations.”
