MoIAT and Lulu Retail Launch Initiative to Boost Locally Made Products
The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), in collaboration with Lulu Retail, has introduced a nationwide initiative to promote locally manufactured products, aligning with the objectives of the “Make it in the Emirates” campaign.
The initiative, unveiled ahead of the UAE’s 53rd National Day, will roll out in two phases. In the first phase, accredited manufacturers will be invited to participate. The second phase will see Lulu assisting local manufacturers in obtaining the Made in the Emirates quality mark, ensuring high standards of production.
Throughout December, Lulu stores across the UAE will showcase dedicated Made in the Emirates shelves, promoting 53 local products weekly. Customers can also enjoy discounts and additional loyalty points under the Lulu Happiness programme.
The initiative stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MoIAT and Lulu Retail, which focuses on expanding the local industrial base and fostering sustainable supply chains. The partnership will also encourage suppliers to join the National In-Country Value (ICV) Program, with workshops planned to highlight the benefits of participation.
Omar Al Suwaidi, Under-Secretary of MoIAT, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to fostering collaboration between public and private sectors, creating a supportive business environment for investors. He stated,
“The UAE’s ecosystem offers incentives for businesses to thrive and transform into national success stories.”
Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu Retail, echoed this sentiment, affirming Lulu’s dedication to the campaign. He noted,
“This launch campaign will run throughout December and will be organised annually to promote UAE-made products.”
The initiative is set to strengthen the UAE’s industrial competitiveness and spotlight locally manufactured goods, fostering growth and innovation in the national market.
