Nissan unveils latest NIM safety tech
Nissan Middle East has strengthened its model line-up with a suite of safety and connectivity features, factoring in the evolving needs and wants of its customers with the introduction of Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) technologies.
Combining the three pillars of Intelligent Driving, Intelligent Power, and Intelligent Integration, ongoing innovations in NIM play a vital role in aiding the brand achieve its goal of virtually zero fatalities involving Nissan vehicles across the globe.
The ultimate expression of Nissan Intelligent Mobility and autonomous driving is evident in the new Nissan Ariya, which will make its Middle East debut at Expo 2020 Dubai. Making for a bold display of technology and innovation, the Ariya will showcase the brand’s true capabilities in terms of Intelligent Power, Intelligent Driving, and Intelligent Integration.
The newest addition to the NIM suite – the ProPILOT was premiered in the region on the 2021 Nissan Altima, revolutionizing driving experiences and offering customers added safety and peace of mind. Combining Nissan’s Intelligent Cruise Control system with Steering Assist technologies, ProPILOT makes driving easy and stress-free by automatically increasing or decreasing the vehicle’s speed to maintain a set distance from the car ahead.
Coupled with Lane Intervention – a feature that utilizes a forward-facing camera to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane, and a stop-and-hold function, the ProPILOT is every driver’s ideal companion.
Abdulilah Wazni, Marketing Director, Nissan Middle East said:
“We have constantly been growing our NIM suite to offer customers a safer, more comfortable, and more enjoyable experience behind the wheel. ProPILOT, which is one of the unique technologies in the segment, transforms the way we drive cars and gives us a glimpse into the world of autonomous driving. The complete capabilities of NIM and how it reforms driving experience are embodied in the Ariya, which will be Nissan’s showcase of the future of mobility at Expo 2020 Dubai.”
Looking out for drivers, passengers and other road users, Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility (NIM) offerings are in line with findings from global automotive consumer studies where respondents rank safety features as the most vital factor when considering their next vehicle purchase.
Offering complete protection, NIM operates in three stages - Monitoring, Recovering, and Protecting - by shielding occupants before, during, and after a potential impact. The Intelligent Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection is one such feature that gives drivers a 360-degree bird-eye view and alerts them of moving objects to avoid or mitigate collisions with pedestrians and/or cyclists.
In terms of Recovery and Protection, features such as Automatic Emergency Braking utilize a sensor located at the front of the vehicle to identify pedestrians and other vehicles. Should the driver not be able respond in time, the system automatically applies the brakes to avoid or greatly mitigate collisions.
Seamless smartphone integration in the form of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity can be found in nearly all Nissan models and allows drivers to connect their phone to the vehicle’s infotainment screen. This in turn, allows them to play music, keep tabs on their social network and navigate the city confidently – all while eliminating the risk and distraction of using a mobile phone while driving.
Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) improves the safety of its users and those around by offering drivers a newer, safer, and more confident way to drive. NIM technologies are available across Nissan’s line-up in the Middle East, including the legendary Nissan Patrol in addition to KICKS, X-Terra, Altima, Sunny and X-TRAIL, and connects drivers to their cars and other road users like never before.
