Noor Dubai, Moorfields Eye Hospital to treat patients with critical eye diseases
Noor Dubai Foundation has signed a partnership agreement with Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai (a branch of the renown Moorfields Eye Hospital, London) to provide treatment services to UAE based patients suffering from critical eye diseases and whose treatment requires special preparations to ensure maximum benefit from the treatment.
Launched in 2016, the UAE treatment programme is one of Noor Dubai’s local outreach programme aimed to facilitate treatment for UAE residents with critical eye diseases. Over the last five years, Noor Dubai has treated over 245 patients creating a positive impact on the patients' lives receiving treatment.
Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai Foundation, said,
"This latest partnership is yet another testimonial to the foundation’s global and local commitment to provide the best quality treatment and preventive services to fight visual impairment worldwide. We aim to work closely with the Moorfields team to explore other areas of synergies and drive collaborative efforts in the field of research and development. We also look forward to expanding the scope of partnerships with health care providers in the country to facilitate access to and benefit from treatment services."
A UAE based charity, Noor Dubai was launched in 2008 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. It is focused on the prevention of blindness and visual impairment globally. Since its launch, over 33 million patients from all over Africa and Asia have benefited from the foundation’s free treatment and preventive programmes, which includes provision of surgeries, eyeglasses, and medication.
Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai Managing Director, Elhadi Hassan, said,
