RTA Awards AED 798 Million Contract for Al Qudra Street Development

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a contract worth AED 798 million for the Al Qudra Street Development Project, aimed at improving traffic flow, enhancing mobility, and supporting Dubai’s urban expansion.

The project spans from the intersection of Al Qudra Street with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and extends to Emirates Road. It includes the construction of bridges totaling 2,700 metres and the expansion of Al Qudra Street by 11.6 kilometres. The enhancements will reduce travel time from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes, benefiting approximately 400,000 residents and visitors.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, emphasized that the project will significantly increase road capacity and optimize traffic flow at key intersections.

“It will enhance connectivity to major developments such as Arabian Ranches, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, DAMAC Hills, and The Sustainable City,”

he said.

Key components of the project include a 600-metre bridge at the intersection of Al Qudra Street and Dubai Studio City, expanding capacity from 6,600 to 19,200 vehicles per hour. A 700-metre bridge at Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will include seven lanes in both directions, improving traffic efficiency. Additional bridges and service roads will facilitate smooth traffic movement towards Jebel Ali, Downtown Dubai, and Dubai International Airport.

Further expansions will extend Al Qudra Street to serve communities like Town Square, Mira, and DAMAC Hills 2. A future phase will introduce a 4.8-kilometre road connecting Emirates Road, enhancing access to growing residential and commercial areas. The project aims to bolster Dubai’s infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and reduced congestion across vital corridors.
