RTA Completes Maintenance of Over 2,000 Lighting Units on Dubai Cycling and E-Scooter Tracks
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed the maintenance of 2,173 lighting units across four of the city's major cycling and e-scooter tracks.
The tracks, located in Al Qudra, Jumeirah, Nad Al Sheba, and Mirdif & Mushrif, have been upgraded to ensure safe and clear visibility during evening hours, encouraging more residents and visitors to engage in cycling and e-scooter activities.
Abdullah Lootah, Director of Roads and Facilities Maintenance at RTA, highlighted the importance of maintaining lighting units as part of RTA’s broader strategy to preserve infrastructure assets, ensure safety, and promote sustainability.
The maintenance of lighting units is critical for extending their operational lifespan and ensuring smooth and safe movement on the tracks,
Lootah stated.
RTA's maintenance efforts are divided into preventive and corrective measures. Preventive maintenance involves regular checks, cleaning, and ensuring the functionality of lighting poles, while corrective maintenance addresses any malfunctions in the lighting network.
Lootah also emphasized the role of community feedback in these maintenance activities, noting that reports from RTA’s Call Centre, the Madinati service on the RTA App, and government partners contribute to the continuous improvement and safety of Dubai's cycling and e-scooter tracks.
These efforts by RTA align with Dubai's commitment to enhancing the well-being of its residents and visitors by providing safe and enjoyable infrastructure for recreational activities.
