RTA Completes Major Expansion of Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop, Boosting Capacity by 338%

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully completed the expansion of the Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop, increasing its truck parking capacity from 40 to 175 slots—marking a significant 338% growth.

This initiative supports RTA’s ongoing commitment to enhancing land freight operations, improving driver services, and ensuring safer roads across Dubai.

The Al Rowaiyah Truck Rest Stop is strategically located near key highways like Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, providing essential facilities for heavy vehicle drivers. Designed to improve traffic flow and driver comfort, the expanded facility ensures easy access and a safer environment for truckers.

Ahmed Al Khzaimy, Director of Traffic at the Traffic and Roads Agency, highlighted the importance of the expansion:

“This development is part of our broader strategy to enhance heavy vehicle infrastructure. The newly added parking spaces meet the highest standards, offering a seamless experience and boosting road safety, especially for drivers traveling from Ras Al Khor Road or towards Sharjah."

The rest stop also offers top-tier amenities, including a prayer room, restrooms, a diesel refueling station, and maintenance workshops for tire replacement and repairs. These improvements not only support land transport operations but also help prevent truck-related accidents and reduce random truck parking on major roads.

RTA’s efforts to streamline truck movement, especially during restrictions on Emirates Road, align with its vision of “The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility,” as it continues to enhance Dubai’s road network and overall traffic safety.
