RTA to Launch Variable Toll and Parking Tariff Policies in Dubai
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled plans to implement Variable Road Toll Pricing (Salik) and Variable Parking Tariff Policies in 2025, aiming to improve traffic flow and enhance urban mobility.
The new Salik system, effective from January 2025, introduces dynamic toll rates based on traffic patterns. Motorists can enjoy toll-free passage from 1:00 am to 6:00 am. During weekdays, peak hours (6:00 am–10:00 am and 4:00 pm–8:00 pm) will incur a toll of AED6, while off-peak hours (10:00 am–4:00 pm and 8:00 pm–1:00 am) will cost AED4. On Sundays, the toll will remain AED4 throughout the day, with free passage during the early morning hours.
By March 2025, the Variable Parking Tariff Policy will also be introduced. Premium parking spaces will cost AED6 per hour during peak hours (8:00 am–10:00 am and 4:00 pm–8:00 pm), while other public parking spaces will charge AED4 per hour. Off-peak parking rates will remain unchanged, and parking will be free overnight (10:00 pm–8:00 am) and on Sundays.
Additionally, the RTA will introduce a Congestion Pricing Policy in February 2025, targeting event areas. Parking near venues like the Dubai World Trade Centre will cost AED25 per hour during major events. This measure is expected to streamline traffic flow in high-demand zones.
These policies are part of RTA’s broader strategy to ensure smoother commutes and accommodate Dubai’s growing urban infrastructure needs.
