Saudi Arabia Secures Hosting Rights for FIFA World Cup 2034

In a historic achievement, Saudi Arabia has officially been announced as the FIFA World Cup 2034 host, marking a significant milestone in the Kingdom’s sporting journey. Citizens celebrated the news with widespread enthusiasm, viewing the event as a testament to Saudi Arabia’s growing prominence on the global stage.

A First for Saudi Arabia

This will be the first time Saudi Arabia hosts the prestigious football tournament, and it will also be the debut of FIFA's expanded 48-team format. Matches are set to take place in five major cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Khobar, Abha, and the futuristic city of NEOM. The bid received overwhelming support from over 200 FIFA member associations, with Saudi Arabia emerging as the sole contender.

The Kingdom’s proposal earned a record-breaking 4.18 out of 5 in FIFA’s assessment, highlighting its readiness and vision to deliver an exceptional tournament.

"Together We Grow" Theme

Unveiled in July 2024, Saudi Arabia’s bid centered around the theme "Together We Grow", reflecting its ambition to foster cultural exchange, promote sustainability, and provide world-class infrastructure. The plan includes 15 state-of-the-art stadiums, supported by 10 additional venues for tournament-related activities.

The country’s advanced transportation network and streamlined travel procedures aim to create a seamless experience for players, fans, and visitors while prioritizing environmental sustainability.

A Transformative Vision

Hosting the World Cup aligns with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s reform initiative led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aimed at diversifying the economy and enhancing global connections. The event offers an opportunity to showcase the Kingdom’s remarkable progress across various sectors, including sports, tourism, and infrastructure development.

A Rising Global Sports Hub

Saudi Arabia has already established itself as a key player in the international sports arena by hosting major events such as Formula 1, Formula E, the Dakar Rally, and the Spanish and Italian Super Cups. In 2023, the Kingdom welcomed over 100 million visitors, reflecting its success in leveraging sports to boost tourism and economic growth.

With the FIFA World Cup 2034, Saudi Arabia is poised to further solidify its reputation as a premier destination for global events and a leader in fostering cultural and sporting excellence.
