Thailand Introduces E-Visa Service for Travelers from Pakistan and Afghanistan
The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad has announced the launch of Thailand's e-visa service, aimed at simplifying the visa application process for residents of Pakistan and Afghanistan. The new online platform will officially go live on January 1, 2025, offering greater convenience for travelers.
Under the e-visa system:
- Applicants no longer need to submit their passports and supporting documents in person at the embassy.
- All applications can be submitted online through the official e-visa portal.
- Once the application is approved, a confirmation email will be sent, which travelers must print and present at departure and upon arrival in Thailand.
While the application process is entirely digital, online payment options are not yet available. Applicants must pay the visa fees directly at the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad.
The embassy will continue accepting in-person applications until December 24, 2024, to facilitate the transition to the new system.
Applicants must currently reside in Pakistan or Afghanistan to access the e-visa services. Additionally, the e-visa is available only to those not already in Thailand.
Thailand’s stunning beaches, rich history, and vibrant culture make it a top destination for global tourists, including those from Pakistan and Afghanistan. This new e-visa service is expected to boost travel between the countries, offering a more efficient and accessible way to explore Thailand's many attractions.
