The RACE is on: Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge Opens for Registration

• Iconic Dubai cycling race attracts thousands of competitors every year

• The challenge will be made up of four build-up rides, starting on 28 November, and the main event in February

• Registration opens at 2pm on Thursday, November 5 via www.cyclingchallenge.ae with the Dubai Big 5 promotion

The 2021 edition of one of the region’s favorite sporting events - the legendary Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge – will open for registration at 2pm (Thursday 5 November), with the first 35km build-up ride due to be held on 28 November at Al Qudra Cycling Track in Dubai.

The challenge, which is held in partnership with Spinneys Dubai and Dubai 92, consists of four build-up rides of increasing length staged at the purpose-built Al Qudra Cycling Track, and will get riders’ legs and lungs in peak condition ahead of the main 92km event in February 2021.

The UAE’s thriving cycling community can register online for the four build-up rides and the 92km main event, for a limited offer at a special price. Alternatively, riders can also sign up to individual rides. The location for the main event will be announced at a later date.

Organizers have been working hard ahead of the first build-up ride to ensure extra precautions are put in place at all events to ensure public safety during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stewart Howison, Race Director, said:

“It’s a huge moment to open registration for the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge and officially launch one of the UAE’s most popular and long-running sporting events. There is much anticipation for the 2021 edition, particularly due to this year’s challenge not taking place due to COVID-19.
“The challenge is designed to help cyclists pedal away those lockdown cobwebs and be ready for the big day with a series of build-rides taking place at the home of Dubai cycling at Al Qudra Cycling Track.”

The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge is one of the Middle East’s premium sporting races, regularly attracting thousands of riders from all over the world. The event celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2019 with 1,500 cyclists taking part in three build-up rides and 2,500 competing in the final race.

Cyclists can register online, and those who register for the DUBAI BIG 5 will receive a race pack gift bag and optional entry to a Big 5 leaderboard of accumulated times across all five rides, among other perks.
