Twitter to test new features on the platform
Twitter announced on Wednesday that the platform is testing new changes, including how photos and videos are displayed on the social media platform.
The new feature are expected to expand the visual media embedded in tweets to fill the whole width of the screen when being viewed on a mobile device. Similar features already exist on other social media platforms, such as Instagram.
Under the current format, Twitter images are indented next to a user's profile photo and take up much less screen space. The images are magnified only after a user clicks on them.
Twitter said the new layout, which is currently being tested only on IOS, would give media “more room to shine.”
This is the latest in a series of changes and new features that Twitter is announcing to boost its subscription base.
Other features include a ‘tip jar’ for supporting content creators, ‘super follows’ for subscriber-only content, and testing upvote and downvote buttons similar to what is already featured on Reddit.
Twitter has also been working on increasing online safety for its users. The social media giant launched a privacy setting that allows users to temporarily block accounts for up to seven days for using harmful language or sending uninvited replies.
It also announced another test that would allow users to remove followers.
