UAE and Hungary Strengthen Defence Ties with Landmark Partnership
EDGE, a global leader in advanced technology and defence solutions, has signed a significant letter of intent (LOI) with the Hungarian Ministry of Defence (MoD) during a high-profile visit by Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to the UAE.
The LOI focuses on defence innovation, research, and development, marking the beginning of potential multi-million-euro agreements between EDGE and Hungarian entities. The agreement, signed in Abu Dhabi, was witnessed by Hungary’s Prime Minister, the Hungarian Minister of Defence, and senior officials from EDGE, further solidifying the growing cooperation between the UAE and Hungary.
Hamad Al Marar, CEO of EDGE, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting it as a significant step in enhancing defence capabilities. He emphasized EDGE’s commitment to innovation and collaboration with NATO member states, particularly in supplying CARACAL sniper rifles to the Hungarian Defence Forces — a historic move as EDGE's first such supply to a NATO member.
The signing of this agreement underscores Hungary’s confidence in EDGE’s cutting-edge solutions and reaffirms the strategic ties between the UAE and Hungary. The visit also facilitated high-level discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation in defence, technology, and innovation, contributing to shared security goals.
This partnership not only strengthens EDGE’s presence in NATO markets but also enhances the UAE’s role as a key player in global defence innovation. It marks the beginning of long-term collaboration, with EDGE poised to deliver tailored solutions to meet Hungary’s defence priorities.
