UAE-Brazil Business Council Inaugural Meeting Boosts Economic Ties at B20 Summit

The UAE-Brazil Business Council held its inaugural meeting in Sao Paulo alongside the G20 Business Summit (B20), setting the stage for deepened economic collaboration between the UAE and Brazil.

Attendees included Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade, UAE Ambassador Saleh Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade at the Ministry of Economy, and senior officials and business leaders from both nations.

Co-chaired by Dr. Mohamed Asaad Taher, Head of Business Development (MENA) at MASDAR, and Dr. Jefferson de Oliveira Gomes, Director of Technology and Innovation at Brazil’s Confederacao Nacional da Industria (CNI), the meeting explored avenues for enhanced cooperation in clean energy, manufacturing, sustainable agriculture, and technology. The UAE’s strategic location and business-friendly environment were highlighted as key assets for facilitating cross-border trade and investment.

Dr. Taher emphasized the council’s role in fostering partnerships, stating,

“We are building a vital platform to deepen economic ties and create new business prospects in both the UAE and Brazil.”

Dr. Gomes echoed this sentiment, noting the council’s commitment to establishing "new bridges of cooperation."

As trade between the UAE and Brazil grows—non-oil bilateral trade reached $2.64 billion in the first half of 2024—the council pledged regular meetings to monitor joint initiatives. With Brazil as the UAE’s largest Latin American trading partner, this council aims to capitalize on emerging opportunities to support sustainable growth and broaden market access in both nations.
