UAE Gains Global Recognition for Advancing Human Rights and Legislative Reforms

The UAE continues to earn regional and international acclaim for its ongoing human rights initiatives, as the nation strengthens its commitment to legislative reforms in line with its development goals.

Human rights have become a central focus of the UAE’s development strategies, aiming to guarantee dignity, welfare, and justice for all individuals, as outlined by its constitution and laws.

Maqsoud Kruse, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Institution (NHRI), emphasized that human rights protection remains a top priority. The UAE's dedication to this cause has been recognized globally, including through its election to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2022-2024 term.

Kruse highlighted the UAE’s progress in crafting comprehensive legal frameworks aligned with international laws, fostering partnerships, and raising awareness on human rights.

This week, the UAE presented its second periodic report to the Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee during its 27th session at the Arab League headquarters. Ambassador Talal Al-Mutairi, Chairman of the Arab Permanent Committee for Human Rights, praised the UAE’s commitment to enhancing human rights through reforms focused on gender equality, fundamental freedoms, and the protection of vulnerable groups.

In recent years, the UAE has enacted significant legal reforms, including updates to personal status, civil, and anti-discrimination laws. Notably, over 47 federal laws were issued in 2024 alone, supported by the UAE Legislations digital platform, which attracts over 500,000 monthly visitors.

The UAE continues to lead in advancing human rights, ensuring equal opportunities for women, children, and workers, while prioritizing family stability and welfare.
