UAE Gears Up for 53rd National Day Celebration with Focus on Unity, Sustainability, and Heritage
The UAE is gearing up for the 53rd celebration of Eid Al Etihad, its National Day, with a focus on unity, sustainability, and heritage.
This year’s event, held on December 2, commemorates the unification of the Emirates in 1971, a pivotal moment in the country’s history. The official name for the celebration, announced by the organising committee, underscores the theme of "union" (Etihad), which represents the nation's strength, heritage, and national pride.
While the location of the grand event remains undisclosed, residents can look forward to multiple activations across the seven Emirates, creating festive zones for people to gather and celebrate. With December 2 and 3 falling on a Monday and Tuesday, the 2024 National Day holiday will provide a four-day weekend, marking the last long break of the year.
Eisa Alsubousi, director of Strategic and Creative Affairs of the organising committee, highlighted the importance of sustainability in this year's celebrations.
"We are delighted to invite everyone to share in this historic moment,"
he said, emphasizing conscious participation. The committee encourages residents, businesses, schools, and families to adopt sustainable practices by minimising waste, recycling, upcycling, and reusing resources. Special guides have been created to help people celebrate responsibly, from repurposing decorations to incorporating eco-friendly activities into daily routines.
This year’s Eid Al Etihad not only honours the UAE's founding but also invites all to join in a collective effort to protect the environment while celebrating the spirit of unity.
