UAE Partners with ICAO to Launch Global Accelerators Ambassadors Programme
The UAE government launched the Global Accelerators Ambassadors Programme, a-first-of-its-kind project exhibiting cooperation between the Government Accelerators and international organisations.
The first cohort started in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), aiming to share the UAE government accelerators methodology and empower the international organisations taskforces with the knowledge, experience, and tools needed to accelerate the design and implementation of transformational projects.
The Global Accelerators Ambassadors Programme, initiated by the Government Accelerators Centre in the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, aims to cultivate an accelerator culture globally. It involves training employees from international organizations as accelerator ambassadors, following a successful partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO). Launched at the ICAO headquarters in Montreal, the program's objectives include sharing government accelerator models, fostering partnerships, and developing cooperation frameworks. With key figures such as Juan Carlos Salazar and Dr. Radhiya Al Hashimi present, it seeks to elevate the UAE's leadership in this domain while promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building worldwide.
Huda Al Hashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, highlighted the Global Accelerators Ambassadors Programme as a cornerstone for knowledge partnerships between the UAE government and international organizations. These collaborations aim to share the UAE's successful accelerator model, aiding organizations in expediting goal achievement. Al Hashimi noted that this aligns with the bilateral cooperation agreement between the UAE government and the ICAO signed in 2022.
Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary-General of the ICAO, commended the UAE's support, emphasizing its contribution to the global aviation sector's development and future business models. He described the accelerators workshop as a model for future cooperation, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within the ICAO. The workshop accelerates transformational projects within the ICAO, supporting innovative endeavors and facilitating access to the latest methodologies and standards to deliver value to the global aviation sector.
The programme encompasses six courses divided into three main stages: design, planning, and implementation, over 100 days.
The Government Accelerators team conducted multiple workshops to equip the ICAO team with accelerator methodology, training 15 employees to implement the 100-day work methodology. Participants generated over 135 innovative ideas, leading to 30 initiatives and six transformational projects across restructuring procedures, automation, data unification, and talent development. The workshops showcased the UAE's pioneering experience in government accelerators, emphasizing their role in strategic partnerships and sharing success stories.
A memorandum of cooperation signed during the World Governments Summit 2022 between Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi and Salvatore Sciacchitano focuses on institutional development, knowledge exchange, and supporting civil aviation, aligning with the UAE and ICAO's efforts to enhance global aviation performance and readiness through innovation and experience sharing.
