UAE Launches Social Media Guide to Enhance Government Communication
The UAE Government Media Office has introduced the Social Media Guide for Government Entities, a strategic initiative aimed at modernising communication between federal entities and the public.
Announced at the Federal Government Communication Network meeting in Dubai, the initiative was spearheaded by Saeed Mohammad Al Eter, Assistant Minister for Strategic Projects and Chair of the UAE Government Media Office.
The Social Media Guide, developed in collaboration with the New Media Academy, sets out a framework for standardising social media use across government bodies. It aims to ensure consistency in messaging, reinforce digital presence, and promote increased interaction with the public. The guide offers best practices for content creation, visual identity cohesion, and maintaining consistent engagement.
Alia Al Hammadi, Vice Chairperson of the UAE Government Media Office, highlighted the guide’s role in transforming government content creation.
“The guide adopts innovative methods to ensure clarity and impact in governmental content,”
she said. It also addresses crisis management, storytelling techniques, and the use of trending formats to enhance message delivery.
A workshop at the event, co-organised with the New Media Academy, focused on best practices for managing a robust government social media presence.
Khadija Hussain, Executive Director of Government Communication, emphasised the importance of unified communication in the digital age, stating,
“The guide will bolster the government’s identity on social media platforms.”
The meeting also showcased the outcomes of a specialised content creator programme, aimed at developing the skills of government communication teams in producing high-quality digital content. This initiative is part of a broader effort to nurture young talent and strengthen the UAE government’s digital presence.
