UAE and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Ties in Modern Pentathlon
The UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with its Saudi counterpart to promote and develop the sport in the two brotherly countries. The agreement also facilitates the exchange of expertise and knowledge transfer across various fields.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Huda Al Matroushi, President of the UAE Modern Pentathlon Federation, and Hussein Al-Abdulwahab, Deputy President and Executive Director of the Saudi Modern Pentathlon Federation. The signing took place during a meeting held on Wednesday at the federation's headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Al Matroushi expressed her delight at signing this agreement, which marks the first collaboration with a Gulf federation. She stated that several essential elements were agreed upon in the MoU, including enhancing cooperation between the two countries through organising tournaments, conducting joint workshops, and providing training courses to benefit sports, technical, and administrative teams.
She added that coordination was also established regarding regional, continental, and international participation and collaboration on voting in the general assemblies. There is an effort to establish Gulf and Arab unions for the sport.
Al-Abdulwahab highlighted the progress of modern pentathlon in Saudi Arabia, emphasising its crucial strides in gaining accreditation and club registrations throughout the Kingdom. This aligns with the overarching sports strategy supporting a diverse game range. He noted that the sport has garnered participation from around 1000 players, a noteworthy achievement resulting from their involvement in four tournaments.
