UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Global Energy Transition at BRICS Energy Meeting

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reaffirmed its dedication to advancing the global energy transition and reinforcing international cooperation to secure energy supplies.

This pledge was made during the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure’s participation in the Second Meeting of the BRICS Committee of Senior Energy Officials, held in Brasília. The event saw the participation of high-level representatives from the member states of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa).

The meeting centered on achieving a delicate balance between energy security and sustainable development, with an emphasis on transitioning to a low-carbon future. During discussions, the UAE was highlighted for its pioneering role in ensuring global energy security and its leadership in the energy transition, hydrogen production, and related technologies.

The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure showcased the country’s achievements in the energy sector, including its global leadership in providing universal access to electricity and clean cooking fuels, significant investments in renewable and clean energy projects, and strides in energy efficiency. These accomplishments are aligned with the UAE’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7.

Furthermore, the meeting underscored the importance of implementing the "UAE Consensus" outcomes from COP28. This ambitious agreement aims to triple global renewable energy capacity and double energy efficiency by 2030—goals that resonate with the BRICS vision for a sustainable, clean energy future. Through these efforts, the UAE continues to position itself as a reliable and strategic partner in the global energy landscape.
